Week 9 of the legislative session brought
several bills across the 昀椀nish line while
lawmakers also gained a clearer picture of
the work that remains to 昀椀nalize the state
budget. Florida PBA President John Kazanjian was in Tallahassee this week as the
昀椀nal days of session unfolded, continuing
the Florida PBA’s commitment to standing
as a strong voice for our members.
While in town, President Kazanjian and
members of the Executive Board—including Senior Vice President Mick McHale,
Vice President for Services Jimmy Baiardi,
Vice President for Charters Rodney Skirvin, Vice President for Legislative A昀昀airs
Bill Smith, Vice President for Strategic
Planning Scott Ho昀昀man, and Secretary
Steve Slade—personally delivered the
Florida PBA’s o昀케cial endorsement letter to
Blaise Ingoglia in support of his campaign
for Chief Financial O昀케cer of Florida. Blaise
has consistently been a strong supporter
of Florida’s law enforcement community,
and the Florida PBA is proud to stand with
him as he works to continue serving in this
important role.
WEEK 9:
UNDER THE DOME
Legislation aimed at strengthening protections related to domestic violence, HB
277 sponsored by Representative Debra
Tendrich and Senator Alexis Calatayud,
successfully passed both the House and
the Senate. The bill extends protections
for victims and improves accountability in
domestic violence cases. The PBA team
was present at the press conference following the passage of this vital piece of
legislation. During the event, lawmakers
and advocates heard powerful testimony
from family members of domestic violence
victims, as well as individuals who work
closely with survivors and supporters advocating for stronger protections.
