WEEK 6:
UNDER THE DOME
Legislative activity continued at
a strong pace during Week 6 of
Session, with key budget decisions moving forward and important conversations taking place at
the Capitol.
Broward PBA President Rodney Skirvin and Secretary Elaine
Seedig were in Tallahassee meeting with legislators and continuing to advocate on behalf of our
membership. Their time at the
Capitol included productive discussions with key lawmakers, including Representative Mike Gottlieb, ensuring that the voices of
law enforcement professionals
are heard throughout the legisla-
tive process. Direct engagement
with legislators remains one of
the most e昀昀ective ways to protect and advance the interests of
our members, and we appreciate
President Skirvin and Secretary
Seedig’s continued leadership
and presence in Tallahassee.
On Wednesday, the PBA team
watched as the Senate Appropriations Committee met to discuss
the Senate’s proposed budget.
During that meeting, the committee also advanced SB 7028,
a budget committee bill presented by Senator Debbie May昀椀eld,
Chair of Senate Governmental
Oversight and Accountability.
SB 7028 would enact a 1.5% minimum Cost-of-Living Adjustment
(COLA) for members of the Florida Retirement System Risk Class.
