into meetings with legislative leadership,
including time on the Senate floor with
Senate President Ben Albritton, who
listened directly to concerns about
compensation.
Speaker Designate Sam Garrison welcomed
members into his office to hear firsthand
from the men and women who work inside
Florida’s correctional facilities about the
demands and realities of the job. While
members were meeting in the hallway,
Commissioner of Education Anastasios
“Stasi” Kamoutsas also stopped to speak
with PBA members, taking time to listen
and engage in conversation about the
importance of supporting those who serve
in corrections.
It’s safe to say that Corrections Day at the
Capitol made an impact. The conversations
held throughout the day set the stage for
continued advocacy as the legislative
session moves forward, and the Florida PBA
will carry that momentum into every
discussion, committee meeting, and
budget decision ahead.
