WEEK 1:
CORRECTIONS DAY
Corrections Day at the Capitol had a clear
mission: to make sure the voices of
Florida’s correctional professionals were
heard throughout the legislative session.
Led by State Corrections Chapter
President Jim Baiardi, the PBA spent the
day meeting with high-level officials to
ensure the needs of our members remain
at the top of Florida’s agenda.
Members were welcomed by Governor
Ron DeSantis, who outlined his
commitment to law and order and spoke
to the critical role corrections plays in
public safety. His remarks reinforced the
importance of supporting the men and
women who work inside Florida’s
correctional institutions.
Attorney General James Uthmeier and Chief
Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia took time to
address the crowd, thanking correctional
officers for the critical role they play in public
safety. Representatives Rachel Plakon, Mike
Gottlieb, and several others also joined to
share their plans to continue advocating for
our members. When the day moved inside
the Capitol, that support carried
